Beer of the Month -- Sam Adams Light
Samuel Adams recently unveiled a new lager -- Sam Adams Light. After 2 years of brewing and testing they have created the company's first light beer -- the brew is a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste, and fewer calories. Sam Adams had this to say about their new addition: "Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it's not a lighter version of our Boston Lager." "Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste." "No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt." "The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops." Jim Koch on Sam Adam's Light:"Seventeen years ago, Samuel Adams Boston Lager® revolutionized beer drinkers' expectations for American beer. Finally, there was a rich flavorful alternative to mass-produced American beers and stale imports. Today, we want to do the same thing with Sam Adams Light - give the light beer drinkers a flavorful, higher quality alternative to the less flavorful domestic light beers as well as the imports. This is the reason we're launching Sam Adams Light. Light beer will soon be 50% of the United States beer consumption and still no one is making a great light beer. I think the timing is right for this unique beer that is brewed with our traditional brewing techniques and traditional ingredients. Now is the time for Sam Adams Light." |
